Conversion Chart : Points, Pixels, Ems and Percent.

When I develop a webdesign in photoshop or css, I often find myself trying to convert Points to Pixels or Percentage to Ems. But, some time ago, I found a conversion chart which allows easily convert measurements between them, and since I can not do without.
It’s an approximation, which will depend on font, browser and OS, but it’s a good starting point.

How 90s is your website ?

“How 90s” as the name suggests, allows the webmaster to check whether their site is blocked in the 90’s. The audit includes all the functionality which have made the sites of 90 years and are now obsolete.
You just need to enter the site URL and it will check for you if there are devices such as tables, frames, marquees, click counter, etc., and therefore decide how much of this site always follows the old rules.
The site also has what he calls the “League of Shame” which includes a list of sites that desperately need to redo their design.

HTML5 - Canvas Cycle: True 8Bit Color Cycling

In the 90s, the Color cycling was a technology often used in video games 8-bit to achieve interesting visual effects. Back then, video cards could only render 256 colors, so a palette of selected color was used but the programmer could change the palette at will and all the onscreen colors would change to match the new palette. It was fast and took virtually no memory. Thus began the era of Color cycling.
Unfortunately, the
color cycling is dead in the late 90s, giving way to newer technologies with greater range.

However, recently, 2D graphics pixel are back, thanks to mobile devices and web games.
Thus Mark J. FERRARI decided to create this demo putting up an 8-bit color cycling. For the record, he utlise HTML5 Canvas for including the effects in real time.
Just amazing.
